A moderate-to-difficult Himalayan crossover trek from Dhaula/Jiskun (Uttarakhand) to Sangla Valley (Himachal Pradesh) via the Rupin Pass, passing the hanging village of Jhaka, dense forests and alpine meadows, the Rupin waterfalls, snow bridges and the Rupin Gully, up to a max altitude of approx. 15,250 ft. Best attempted May-June or Sep-Oct.

    Day 1

    Shimla - Jiskun / Bareta

    Drive from Shimla to Jiskun/Bareta, the trek starting point.

  2. 02

    Day 2

    Jiskun - Daka

    Trek to Daka, the hanging village of Jhaka, through Rupin River valley terrain.

  3. 03

    Day 3

    Daka - Saruwas Thatch

    Trek through dense forests and alpine meadows to Saruwas Thatch.

  4. 04

    Day 4

    Saruwas Thatch - Dhanderas Thatch

    Trek onward to Dhanderas Thatch, with views of the Rupin Waterfall.

  5. 05

    Day 5

    Dhanderas Thatch - Upper Waterfall Camp

    Trek to the Upper Waterfall camp, crossing snow bridges along the Rupin Gully.

  6. 06

    Day 6

    Upper Waterfall - Rupin Pass - Ronti Gad

    Summit day: cross Rupin Pass with views of the Ronti peaks (Jasreen 15,800+ ft) and descend to Ronti Gad.

  7. 07

    Day 7

    Ronti Gad - Sangla

    Descend from Ronti Gad to Sangla Valley, Himachal Pradesh.

  8. 08

    Day 8

    Sangla - Shimla

    Drive back from Sangla to Shimla.
