A classic Himalayan crossover trek from the lush Kullu Valley to the high-altitude desert of Lahaul, over the Hampta Pass (approx. 14,100 ft / 4,300 m). Starts at Jobra near Manali and ends at Chatru in Lahaul, with an optional excursion to Chandratal Lake. Roughly 25-30 km of trekking over 4-5 trekking days, ideal as a first high-altitude trek. Best done June to September.
Day 1
Drive from Manali to Jobra, then trek to Chika (approx. 10,700 ft).
Day 2
Trek to Balu Ka Ghera (approx. 11,800 ft).
Day 3
Cross Hampta Pass (approx. 14,100 ft) and descend to Shea Goru (approx. 11,900 ft).
Day 4
Trek down to Chatru (approx. 10,100 ft).
Day 5
Optional excursion to Chandratal Lake, then drive back to Manali.
